Before Your Procedure
To better understand your overall health, we will evaluate your medical history prior to your procedure. In addition, a complete examination of your eyes is made in order to decide the most effective injection sites. We will mark the areas that will be treated and take digital photographs to determine the amount of improvement after the procedure. During the consultation, all issues and concerns will be discussed so that the patient feels comfortable and confident in their upcoming surgery.
The BOTOX Cosmetic Procedure
BOTOX Cosmetic injections are performed without anesthesia because it is virtually painless. Only a very small sting is felt when the injections are made. The effects are not permanent and may need to be repeated two to three times per year to retain the benefits. Research has suggested, however, that long-term use of the injections can lead to a longer duration of each treatment’s effect. Patients over the age of 65 may not experience results that are as dramatic, as BOTOX Cosmetic is only useful in treating expression lines, and cannot be used to repair sagging skin caused by aging..
After your procedure, you may experience slight bruising around the area that quickly fades. Normal activities can be performed immediately. Possible side effects are temporary weakness of nearby muscles and, in rare cases, an eyelid may droop. BOTOX Cosmetic is completely reversible, so any side effect is only a temporary condition.
Wrinkles can be the result of one or a combination of factors including the loss of collagen, sun damage, smoking, alcohol consumption and also hormonal changes. Aging itself is a large contributing factor. Collagen can decrease at a rate of 1% per year after the age of 40. Sun exposure accelerates the aging process, damaging the collagen fibers so that it may no longer support the upper layers of the skin, which results in the formation of wrinkles.
Types of Facial Fillers
Dents, defects or grooves in deeper layers of skin can be supported from below with dermal fillers Facial Fillers. The most popular brands (Restylane®, Sculptra®, RadiesseTM, and JuvedermTM) are commercially available from different sources and last variable amounts of time. However, your own fat can also be relocated (usually from unwanted areas) to fill in for lost facial support.
